an unladen swallow...

so...
here i am at 2am, and i think it's been so long since i last ate that i will have to eat again before i can sleep.

of course, you would ask (at pretend you would ask) "what are you doing up at 2am?"
well, since i'm updating my xanga, i'm obviously using my computer. i was running out of "important" things to do on my computer, so i decided i would have some fun and find one of those chatterbots and try it out.
for those of you who live regular, non-geeky lives, a chatterbot is a program that you can chat with on IM. usually they are used to answer questions about movie times, the weather, etc., but i guess if you're really lonely...
so i found one that i thought would be interesting: the Encarta InstantAnswers bot. That's right, you can learn anything from the entire Encarta Encyclopedia - right in IM! Fortunately, it doesn't give you answers like "alaska is rite next 2 canada which iz like really like far away."
So, I decided I would start off with a simple, easy question...

hmm... has Mr. Encarta been watching a certain movie recently?
ok, let's try another one...

You can't get anything by this guy! I'm quite impressed.

Alright, as you can see, I'm probably having too much fun right now, and I definitely need to get some sleep.

Good night!
(or "Good Day!" to those of you who check your Xanga during the day)

so...
chris daughtry has left us.
so many people thought that he would be the one.
i liked him, and i must say that he is a great performer, but i don't think he's quite as good vocally. i'm sure he has quite a career ahead of him though.
of course, elliott was NOT is the bottom 2; he did soooo great on Tuesday.
and Katherine is going to have to pick it up to stay around for the final. she hasn't quite been there the last couple of weeks.
i love Taylor and i'm quite surprised he's made it this long. i think it would be so great if he won.

having said all that, we all must remember that the winner of this competition isn't the true "American Idol," they are merely the second place winner to Jack Bauer.

Only 3 episodes left of 24 and it looks like they are just going to go crazy for these last 3 hours. this season is definitely better than last season, but we'll have to wait until the end before i can decide how it compares to the first 3.

remember, there is the right way, the wrong way, and the Jack Bauer way. It's basically the right way but faster and with more deaths.

You Should Be a Musician

You have a rare combinations of talents: an ear for music, nimble fingers, and the willpower to practice.

You could master almost any instrument you choose to play (if you haven't already!)

Woulda never guessed...

it would make sense that a new blog should accompany the new look, so I'll oblige.

so I started working at Caribou Coffee about a month ago (yeah, I really don't update enough) and it's pretty fun. I learned how to make all those crazy drinks and have come to be quite a coffee connoisseur.
I'm also taking a couple classes at NOVA again this semester - Program Design and Design for the Web. Neither appear to be too difficult and neither of the teachers are too weird.

Season 5 of 24 began last week, which means everyone should know what I'll be doing every Monday night from 9 to 10. I think this season could be really good, but we'll just have to see...

ok, I have to get ready for 180, so I must go.
with any luck, it won't be too long until I'm posting again!

ok, so as pastor kore was talking tonight, i had an epiphany, if you could call it that...
i was thinking about the star of Bethlehem and the Magi. see, these guys who came all the way from Persia (hundreds of miles east) were astrologers. they made their living by studying the stars and trying to interpret them to figure out how they affected their lives. now, we know that astrology isn't just inaccurate (thanks to modern astronomy) but astrology isn't exactly following God's law very well. even though these men were consumed with this inaccurate and probably sinful practice, God decided to bring them in on His plans. but not only that, God actually decided to use the sky to bring the news. as we all know, a star suddenly appeared one night and the Magi were quick to take notice. of course, they followed the star and brought gifts to Jesus.
what is so interesting about this is that God wasn't all "holy" with the Magi. He didn't send Gabriel or some angel to speak the news directly to them. instead, God used the one thing that would really get their attention - a star. God didn't make them try to figure out some riddle or decipher a vague angelic prophecy, He met them where they were.
in the same way, God will meet us where we are, using our situation and circumstances to draw us to Him. you just have to keep your eyes open, and you will surely see God's sign for you.

on a less deep note, i realize that most people won't even be able to read this post because of the bad background/font color selection. well, live with it. :P

Merry Christmas!
